Chelsea hosts Ajax

In a direct clash for the first place in Group H of the Champions League, Chelsea hosts Ajax at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. Right now the English team is leading the group, although with the same amount of points as Ajax, but the Dutch could become a leader if they win on Tuesday.

Before the previous round Ajax were leading the group, but Chelsea’s win in Amsterdam changed this. Although Ajax were regarded favourites at their own Johan Cruijff Arena, Frank Lampard’s team managed to win the game with a very late goal from the substitute Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian striker executed an asssist from Christian Pulisic and put the ball behind Andre Onana’s back.

But now Erik ten Hag’s Ajax is ready for revenge. The Dutch already showed its strenght away from home, dominating Valencia at the Mestalla and recording an exciting 3-0 win. Despite of losing Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong before the start of the season, Ajax still have a very talented squad, managed by a capable head coach. Chelsea must be prepared for a tough battle in the English capital.

During the weekend Ajax visited PEC Zwolle and enjoyed a 4-2 win. Quincy Promes and David Neres were the heroes for the visitors, scoring braces.

In the same time Chelsea also showed their qualities in the Premier League during the weekend. The Blues recorded a fifth consecutive win in the league, beating Watford with 2-1 at the Vicarage Road. Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic scored for the visitors. Five consecutive wins could mean just one thing – Frank Lampard is doing a great job at the moment.

In our Champions League predictions for this game between Chelsea and Ajax we should warn you that this match looks really unpredictable. Chelsea are slight favourites, because of their home ground advantage, but Ajax are very dangerous.
